Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraftNATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIREDThis is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National GuardApplicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Air National GuardIf you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a Connecticut Air National Guard recruiter at (860) 292-2331 before applying for this positionThe major duties include, but are not limited to:
o Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling.
o Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.
o May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention.
o Provides data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required.
o Instructs, directs, and assigns maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard membersWORKING CONDITIONS:
Works indoors and outdoors in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps; aircraft surfaces, work stands, and ladders; and in temperature and humidity extremesSubject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, dust, dirt, grease, lubricants, points, solvents, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating aircraft surfaces such as speed brakes, flaps, and landing gear; engine noise, heat blast, and intake suction; rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, etcFrequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shock, strains and broken bonesPHYSICAL EFFORT:
Requires moderate physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positionsRoutinely required to objects weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally may lift and carry items weighing up to 50 poundsRequirements Conditions of Employmento National Guard Membership is required.
o Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
o Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
o Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
o Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
o Direct Deposit is mandatory.
o Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Experience:
Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specificationsMust be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipmentSPECIALIZED
Experience:
Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 6, 12 or 18 months of specialized experience in the following:
WG-05 REQUIRES 6 MONTHS:
o Experience using common hand tools in making repetitive mechanical repairs under close supervision.
o Experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the tradeWG-08 REQUIRES 12 MONTHS:
o Experience using common hand tools to make mechanical repairs.
o Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance.
o Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.
gsuch as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systemsWG-10 REQUIRES 18 MONTHS:
o Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
o Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
o Experience demonstrating the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping containerKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Ability to do diversified work with tools and equipment, requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensions.
o Knowledge of aircraft components and maintenance procedures.
o Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and determine remedy where overall knowledge of all systems of aircraft is required.
o Ability to inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results.
o Ability to interpret instructional material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical problems on assigned aircraftCOMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
