This is an indefinite position that may convert to permanent without further competition.

JOB
Summary: This position is located in the Communications Squadron, Mission Support Group of an Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing. As the Commander, the incumbent coordinates with DOD, AF, MAJCOMS, National Guard Bureau (NGB), other activities, and Wing Flying Units to procure, distribute, maintain, and replace requirements for all information technology (IT) and telecommunications infrastructure.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Air National Guard.
Area 2: All current members of the Connecticut Air National Guard and individuals eligible for membership in the Connecticut Air National Guard.
Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement. Wear of the military uniform is mandatory. Direct Deposit is mandatory. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Manages, plans, organizes, controls, and directs the communications activities of the Wing and Base to ensure mission accomplishment and optimum use of resources.
Coordinates communications activities and projects with other concerned agencies and organizations.
Coordinates with support organizations to assure an integrated approach to solution of problems.
Ensures formulation of comprehensive training plans for each function and specialty within the C4 and logistics activity.
Monitors and controls the daily expenditure for material and manpower resources in accomplishment of peacetime and wartime mission goals.
GENERAL
Experience: Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED
Experience: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization.
Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls.
Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.
Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed.
Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines is mandatory. Computer science; cyberspace security; electrical; computer or systems engineering; physics; mathematics; information systems; or information security/assurance. Graduate academic degrees in the above disciplines will also be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to research and analyze data.
Ability to coomunicate orally and in writing.
Skill in organizing work in a logical sequence.
Knowledge of computer programming techniques.
Skill in evaluating and making recommendations for automated data processing programs and equipment.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: Indefinite Appointment/Temporary promotion not to exceed two (2) years. The purpose of the appointment is to backfill a Soldier with return rights. This appointment will be terminated within 30 days of return of the incumbent to the position. Due to the immediate needs of the agency, the selected applicant must be available to srtart within 30 days from HRO approval.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
