Our company designs, builds, installs, and services systems for various machine-tool manufacturers all over the world. We are looking for a responsible, self-driven Purchasing Agent to join our team in East Granby, CT. MP Systems is a division of Morris Group, Inc., one of the largest machine tool distribution networks in North America.
Job Responsibilities
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for collecting data using an inventory control system to calculate products and parts orders to ensure that the proper amount of inventory is distributed at all times. This person will provide purchasing, planning, and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Other duties include, but are not limited to:
Obtaining purchased items by submitting orders to appropriate suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders as required
Confirming purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives
Following up on unaccounted inventory to resolve issues and propose creative solutions
Entering part numbers in inventory system with accurate information
Analyzing inventory spending and implementing process efficiencies to control costs
Conducting full inventory checks on a quarterly basis; investigating and explaining any discrepancies
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have an Associate's degree in Business Administration or other related field. This person must be able to think quickly, assess and analyze situations, and respond appropriately. Experience with MRP Inventory Management is necessary. Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite and strong math skills are required.
