Character of the job
The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for setting overall strategic direction for HR, implementing HR policies and programs, and managing all aspects of employee relations and development. The Director of HR will manage staffing and recruiting, organizational and employee development, payroll administration, performance management, training, compensation and benefits administration, and employee counseling. The Director of HR will also be responsible for Risk management and related insurance administration including workers compensation and safety training programs.
Principal Accountabilities
Directing and overseeing all functions related to strategy, recruitment, selection, compensation (including payroll administration), benefits, internal placement, discipline, employee relations, and complaints. Develop, maintain, and administer human resources policies and procedures. Ensure that company meets all federal and state requirements related to human resources activities. Investigate all employee complaints and recommend appropriate course of action, including unemployment and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission hearings. Provide advice and counsel to all program personnel, as required. Responsible for safety program to maximize safe operations and a safe workplace for employees. Develop and implement company affirmative action plan. Administrate company's risk management program, related insurance policies, and manage claims. Perform other tasks as assigned by the President.
Know How
- Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to human resources.
- In-depth knowledge of human resources practices, systems, reporting and legal requirements.
- Ability to develop comprehensive HR policies and programs based on business requirements
- Experience with Risk management and business insurance requirements
- Proficient with applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
- Experience in IT or related fields a plus.
Five to seven years of experience in Human Resources Management capacity.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including listening, coaching, and training
- Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
- Possess an entrepreneurial, innovative mind set
Principal Line of PromotionEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
