Plant Manager

Job Description
The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of our East Granby manufacturing facility which manufactures heating cable products. In the role of Plant Manager, this individual will provide leadership and motivation in order to provide our customers with an excellent experience that improves safety, value, efficiency and reliability. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
Job Responsibilities
The Plant Manager position is responsible for directing and coordinating the daily operations of our manufacturing facility. This includes developing strategies of continuous improvement that support safety, delivery, lead-time and cost.
Supervise and discipline, including initiation of corrective action of all manufacturing employees in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
Provide hands-on expertise, leadership and training for the deployment of lean tools - 5S 1, Kanban, VSM, DDSC, Visual Management, etc. Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve quality & lead times and to reduce the cost of products.
Continue to establish and maintain the Safety and Health Program and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Responsible for recommending the hire, termination and other changes of manufacturing employees.
Train and coach employees; conduct employee performance reviews.
Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations.
Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers.
Schedule and conduct weekly production/safety meetings.
Responsible to meet shift production goals and complete Oracle transactions for product movement.
Assist in production at work centers as necessary.
Responsible for improving the profit of the facility by reducing cost and increasing efficiency.
Works directly with department heads to coordinate purchasing, production and quality to reliably deliver product to our customers.
Communicate with employees at all levels encouraging feedback and discussions about potential improvements, safety concerns and actual changes in the factory and office.
Relay company, division and plant objectives to all employees on a regular basis.
Optimize working capital with a focus on inventory turns and order frequency.
Encourages and facilitates implementation of improvements and development of new processes and products within the facility.
Identify and understand business requirements, developing the strategy and application roadmap needed to satisfy those requirements.
Provide oversight on capital expenditures to improve processes, reliability and cost.
Corporate mandated travel as necessary
Required Qualifications
Successful experience as a Plant Manager in a make to order environment.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and techniques
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Prior P&L responsibility
Must be able to effectively communicate with employees, other department managers and senior management on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge all the polymeric materials and their processing specifically extrusion
Knowledge of Wire and Cable equipment operation
MBA
Electrical industry background

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
